The following is intended to be a glossary of terms, abbreviations and words frequently used by survivors. These are not meant to be confusing to secondaries or people new to the community, but after repetition, certain terms are simply more comfortable to use. Other terms included are simple chat and forum acronyms and abbreviations.

B - Back. Used to inform others that the user has returned.
BRB - Be Right Back
CSA - Childhood Sexual Abuse
Cut(ing)(er) - A form of self-injury where the individual 'cuts' themselves.
DID - Dissociative Identity Disorder. A psychiatric disorder marked by distinctly separate personalities that may or may not be co-aware or co-dominant.
DV - Domestic Violence
ED - Eating Disorder, less common Erectile Dysfunction
FB - Flashback. A psychological phenomenon during which survivors re-experience elements of a traumatic event This can either be conscious and aware, or completely unaware and followed by amnesia of the event. Most individuals present with confusion and distress. It is common for the individual to be lethargic or have limited response after a flashback.
HB - Hurry back
LOL - Laugh Out Loud
MT - Might Trigger
NP - No Problem
NM - Never Mind
OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. An anxiety disorder in which the sufferer repeats often trivial or unnecessary tasks in order to calm one's self or gain the illusion of control.
Perp - Perpetrator. Generally a term used for one's abuser.
PT - Possible Trigger
R - Rape
R*pe - Rape
SA - Sexual Abuse
Secondary - The loved one of a survivor. May be a friend, partner, family or any other trusted person within the survivor's life.
SI - Self Injur
SO - Significant Other
Survivor - A former victim of sexual abuse.
T - Therapist/Therapy
TGC - Take Gentle Care or Take Good Care
Trigger - A topic, word, idea, thought, smell, etc that causes psychological and physiological reaction in the individual. Triggers can be severe and debilitating and/or remind the individual of aspects of their abuse.
TW - Trigger Warning
Victor - A former survivor of sexual abuse.
WB - Welcome Back
